The Jackson 5
Formed in 1964 in Gary, Indiana. A family group from the beginning. Michael Jackson played congas at first, at the age of five.
In 1967 they signed with Gary’s Steeltown Records and released two singles.
Motown signed The Jackson 5 in mid 1969; they quickly reached stardom with hits such as “I Want You Back”, “ABC” and “Never Can Say Goodbye”. “Goin’ Back to Indiana” was a hit as well, a nod to their Hoosier roots.
Michael Jackson became a superstar as a solo performer, along with sister Janet Jackson.
The Jackson 5 were inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
