In 2014, Indiana Music and Entertainment Museum was formed as an Indiana nonprofit corporation and set course towards a physical museum space honoring Indiana entertainment. Some of the highlights of our first few years include:
- Pilot museum space at Wheeler Arts Center, Indianapolis, 2015-16 with themed open houses:
- Billy Wooten, Indiana Jazz Legend, Memorial Tribute
- Art Adams, Indiana Rockabilly Legend, Performance and Meet-Greet
- David Leander Williams, author of Indiana Jazz book, Meet-Greet
- Pop-up museum exhibit at Wheeler Arts Center, 2015
- Public meeting and month-long exhibit at Indianapolis central library, 2016
- Event/dinner honoring Jimmy Mack, Indiana broadcasting legend, 2016
- Event/dinner honoring the late Chuck Workman, Indiana broadcasting and jazz legend
- Public exhibition of vintage holiday film related to Indiana, 2015
- Dinner concert featuring Roy Meriwether, Indiana jazz legend, 2017
- Benefit concert at Vogue Theater featuring six Indiana bands, silent auction and pop-up exhibit, 2016
- Ralph Adams Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring Indiana jazz and blues icons
In 2019, IMEM became Indiana Entertainment Foundation, with a refined mission and a focus on virtual strategies until we find a physical home for our archives and exhibits.
