Frank Dean Oral History

Frank Dean is a multi-genre Indiana musician, songwriter, and longtime owner of Frank’s Guitars in Franklin, Indiana. Known for his work across R&B, Bluegrass, and Rock, Frank has spent decades performing and writing songs that reflect the heart of Midwestern life. He’s also a founding member of Sindacato, alongside Carl LoSasso, Gary Wasson, and Jon Martin, and has shared the stage with more than sixty major acts, including Merle Haggard, George Jones, Lucinda Williams, and Emmylou Harris. His storytelling approach to songwriting—shaped in part by a conversation with Meryl Streep about method acting—reveals the emotional depth and honesty that define his music.
