Fortunately, we’re not the only organization that cares about Indiana music and its history.

Indiana Rock History is a site launched in 2020 by Steve Sybesma, former partner in the legendary Sunshine Promotions company.  Sunshine promoted more than 2,000 Indiana shows beginning in the early 1970’s.  This site is working to track every major concert that happened anywhere in Indiana between the 1950’s up to 2000 (so far), and includes digital images of posters, photos and ads.  Steve’s personal involvement with many of these shows adds insights unavailable otherwise.Indiana Rock History site image

Cultural Manifesto is a weekly radio program on WFYI-FM (90.1 Indianapolis Public Radio) hosted by Kyle Long.  This show explores various Indiana music topics; no one works harder than Kyle at digging up Indiana music history nuggets.  Also weekly on WFYI-FM, Echoes of Indiana Avenue is produced by Kyle Long and narrated by longtime Indianapolis musician Herman “Butch” Slaughter, focuses on black music history in Central Indiana.

Musical Family Tree is the largest repository of Indiana music online, with musical artists across the spectrum uploading tracks that can be streamed and/or downloaded.  Indiana musical artists are recommended to contribute tracks so that their database includes as many artists as possible. MFT continues to support Indiana music in many effective ways, including education, performance and legacy.

Musical Family Tree logoIEF strongly recommends each of these efforts, and thanks them for their unique contributions to Indiana music.
