Are you familiar with the Little Free Library movement?
The Little Free Indiana Music Library is unique! It’s a free library that lives at the IMHP Museum and it’s filled with Indiana music-related content to share. This special library celebrates Indiana’s music scene with a wide variety of items, including books, CDs, vinyl records, zines, download cards, and more. This little free library is designed to look like a music note and is adorned with stickers showcasing Indiana’s musical heritage.

The Little Free Music Library began as a pandemic project in 2020 created by Kati Taylor, host of Clear Vibes Concerts (formerly the Little Flower House Concert Series). Kati’s goal was to share her love of music with her community on the near east side of Indianapolis. The library build was initially funded by Claude McNeal Productions and crafted by local woodworker Adam Menchinger.
When the Little Flower House Concert Series came to an end in 2023, Kati donated the music library to the Indiana Music History Project (IMHP) gallery, where it continues to inspire and connect music lovers.
Take an item. Leave an item.
The Little Free Indiana Music Library is the only exhibit at the IMHP gallery that allows visitors to take Indiana music home with them. Feel free to take an item or two home to enjoy. And next time you visit, consider bringing in an item to share with others!
