Description
On January 29, 2024, the Indiana Music History Project hosted Phil Ranelin Night at the Chatterbox Jazz Club in Indianapolis. The evening celebrated Ranelin’s music with performances of his compositions and the trombonist himself joining in.
Ranelin’s musical roots reach back to Indiana Avenue’s jazz scene. His career took him from Indianapolis to New York City, Detroit, and Los Angeles. In Detroit, he co-founded Tribe Records with Wendell Harrison, helping release recordings that became an important part of the city’s jazz legacy.
Created to promote the Chatterbox event, this poster offers a keepsake of an evening honoring Ranelin back in his hometown. It was printed in small quantities on lightweight, sturdy card stock and measures 11 × 17 inches.
Poster design by Kati Taylor of Clear Vibes Creative.
