Documenting the Voices of Indiana Music Greats
Following the success of the Amazing Indiana Music Stories exhibit—hosted by the Indiana State Library in downtown Indianapolis from January through early April 2024—we are proud to continue celebrating the state’s rich musical heritage through a new and expanded effort in 2025 (and beyond!). Through our Oral Histories Project the Amazing Indiana Music Stories of 50+ notable individuals will be told.

We’re recording and preserving Indiana music history.
With support from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation, this project documents in-depth video interviews with musicians, producers, and other influential figures connected to Indiana’s musical past and present. These oral histories preserve personal stories, creative journeys, and cultural contributions that have shaped Indiana’s music scenes—from local venues to national stages.
