Description
Familiar movie melodies take on a new character in Stryker with Strings Goes to the Movies. Guitarist Dave Stryker teams up with Indiana jazz composer and arranger Brent Wallarab for 11 selections that combine the intimacy of jazz guitar with the sweeping sound of orchestral strings.
Stryker’s rhythm section and the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra’s trombone section join the strings throughout the album. Featured trumpet, violin, and saxophone solos add further color to Wallarab’s arrangements, giving listeners fresh ways to hear songs they may recognize from the screen.
Released in 2025, this recording brings together jazz improvisation and cinematic orchestration. The CD includes liner notes by David Brent Johnson to accompany your listening.
